What kinds of ideas about presentation skills did you think about as Sir Ken Robinson presented his ideas about education?
As Robinson was speaking, I noticed the many presentation skills he acquired. He was calm and relaxed, but not boring. He kept my attention with humor, while also covering a very important topic. Robinson was able to show how every child is different, which then shows that not every child absorbs knowledge in the same way.
How could you incorporate what you saw into your own TED talk?
While watching Robinson's TED talk, I was able to pick up a few presentation skills that I may be able to use for my own TED talk. These skills include humor, appropriate hand gesture (talking with your hands, but in a informative non distracting way), and comparisons or analogies.
How did Sir Ken Robinson's talk resonate with you?
Robinson's talk held my attention. I was humored, but at the same time I was made aware of the diversity in student learning. Up until this point I have not been a huge fan of Genius Hour, yet after watching this TED talk, I can now see the importance behind this project.
How might/might not Genius Hour support Ken Robinson's ideas about how to change education?
Genius Hour greatly supports Robinson's TED talk, by helping students learn subjects that interest them. In Robinson's talk, he tells the audience that children these days are not getting the education and academic attention that they want or deserve. Students are not learning the things that are being taught, so they are losing interest and dropping out.
